Stephen Jones graduated from the university in 2014 and has been working with people who have mental health issues and learning disabilities since 2009.
Stephen is currently studying his PHD here at Greenwich and he joined the South London Mental Health and Community Partnership (SLP) on secondment in January 2020, driving the advancement of senior nursing careers across Oxleas, SLaM and SWLSTG. On 25 January 2021, Stephen started his role as Professional Lead for Mental Health at the Royal College of Nursing (RCN).
In a recent article about the news of his new role Stephen shared about the support from everyone at Greenwich and how his tutors encouraged and supported him with his studies. Now venturing into his new role at RCN he is also keen to show his appreciation for the academic community here at Greenwich,
“For the past five years, my PhD supervisors – John Crowley, Karen Cleaver and John Foster – have been an incredible support. Their belief, encouragement and knowledge have been fundamental to my development. Again, they keep me grounded, but also, as John Crowley puts it, they provide enough 'destabilisation' to ensure I think critically and always remain receptive to academic debate.”
All that remains is to congratulate Stephen once again on his new role and you can follow his journey on twitter.
