TLDRoffon

The Sustainability Team is here to support all academics to carry out Education for Sustainable Development. So far, academic staff from 15 modules have reached out to the team - find out the support available and join them.

Sustainability talk at the Edible Garden

Sustainability is an important part of education for students — 79% of students would like to see sustainable development actively incorporated through all courses, according to a national survey in 2021. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) has become a clear demand from our future generations.

Until now, academic staff from 15 modules have reached out to us, and will be supported in various ways, including guest lectures, workshops, talks during student induction, talks for staff, recorded talks, etc.

Staff Feedback

Feedback from students demonstrate that students greatly valued the guest speaker presentation by the sustainability team. Students particularly enjoyed the discussion around the WHO Sustainable Development Goals and how these link with the wider public health agenda and health promotion. The lecture also broadened the students perspectives in terms of future career opportunities in public health. I would encourage all teaching staff to invite the sustainability team into their lectures so that students across all programmes can benefit from the insight and practical steps we can all take to limit our carbon footprint and support the sustainability agenda - Lotta Hackett, Part time Lecturer, School of Human Sciences.
