UMHD: A reminder of our free, confidential support for staff

TLDRoffon

As a staff member you can access free information, advice and confidential support through the university’s Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) run by CiC.

Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provides a wide range of help, whether its debt advice or legal information, support with anxiety or depression, bereavement, relationship issues, or even help with everyday matters such as moving house or finding a plumber. There’s also support for managers on coping with pressure and stress, or dealing with difficult situations, for example.

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year

Extensive information, resources and advice can be found by visiting the Well Online website or employees can also contact the service via the freephone Confidential Care adviceline. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, meaning you can get support whenever you need it. It’s completely confidential, so you can access the support you need without having to worry that others at the university will know.

Calls are answered by trained consultants who will talk through your situation with you before agreeing together the next steps. Given that all consultants are trained counsellors that initial conversation may be all you need, but if it isn’t CiC will arrange for you to be referred for up to 6 sessions of counselling with a fully qualified therapist if appropriate.
