The award is for an AGCAS member service that can show demonstrable progress in achieving equality, diversity and inclusion goals through initiatives that have identified areas of under-representation amongst staff and/or students and are making a difference. This could be in relation to a range of areas including, but not restricted to gender, disability, LGBTIQ+ and Black and minority ethnic under-representation.
The winner was announced at the AGCAS Awards for Excellence presentation at the end of June, this year.
A partnership between seven universities, including Greenwich, enables the RE:Action 24/7 programme to provide training on inspirational themes, such as ‘Accepting who you are and harnessing your diversity’ and ‘Cultivating a winning mindset and building resilience’.
With a mix of talks from aspirational and representative figures, workshops and reflection sessions, employer-led Q&As and access to a wealth of resources, the programme promotes a sense of belonging, increased confidence, and access to equality of opportunity for over 3,000 students from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
Of the winner, the AGCAS Final Judging Panel said:
‘The RE:Action 24/7 programme really stood out for the judges in a competitive category for its collaborative approach, the strength of the feedback from participants and the strong impact measures. The judges were particularly impressed by the way the students responded to the programme and they liked the focus on improving feelings of confidence and belonging.’
