As part of our ongoing preparations for the move to Windows 11, we’ve previously shared information about upgrading your device. Your continued support is helping us create a safer, more secure digital environment for everyone at Greenwich.
Install the self-service upgrade by 8 October
If your device hasn’t yet been upgraded, please install the self-service upgrade from Software Center. You’ll find step-by-step instructions by logging into IT Self-Service.
If you’re unable to complete the upgrade by 8 October and alternative arrangements have not been made with the upgrade team, a mandatory remote upgrade will be scheduled. This will take place automatically overnight, without further notice.
If you're unsure whether this applies to you, please check with your manager or local IT support contact to confirm.
To avoid disruption, please ensure your device is:
- Switched on
- Logged off (not shut down)
If your device is switched off or left logged in, the upgrade may be triggered during the day without warning.
Before you upgrade
- Save your work and back up any university data to an appropriate shared area.
- If you need additional support, contact the IT Service Desk.
- Do not store personal data on your university device.
- For guidance on data storage, refer to the Data Classification Policy.
