'Thinking About Thinking: The Theory and Practice of Hermeneutic Phenomenology' June 2025.

16th Jun 2025 - 20th Jun 2025

Campus

Calling all those who aspire to work in, or curious about hermeneutic phenomenology. This year’s summer school (16 - 19 June) and Conference (20 June) will focus on how to apply phenomenological principals to your qualitative research. We will discuss how research can translate into authentic care in education, health and social care policy and practice. These separate events are an excellent opportunity to hear from renowned phenomenologists in your field. Both the summer school and conference will be facilitated by leading phenomenologists Professor Lesley Dibley (UK), Professor Susan Crowther (NZ) and Dr. Mel Duffy (IRE).

20 June: Phenomenology Conference 2025

Hybrid in-person and online conference hosted by the Institute for Lifecourse Development

The abstracts for presentations do not need to be completed projects for the summer school– though they can be. We ask that submission for the conference are completed. We welcome abstracts about initial project ideas, projects in development and projects where you are struggling to apply phenomenology. The abstract must set a clear research question and a proposed methodological approach. It can then, rather than offer results and findings, instead set philosophical, methodological, or practical questions about how the work will develop.
