On-campus Events Travel Reimbursement
Terms and conditions
Eligibility
To qualify for reimbursement on travel, you’ll need to meet a few conditions:
- You must attend one of our on-campus recruitment events (Open Day, Offer Holder event, Postgraduate event) and check in on arrival with our registration staff.
- You receive free school meals, are a care leaver, or live in certain areas. Please check your postcode here. If the results show that your postcode is in a POLAR4 Quintile 1 or 2, you can apply for a reimbursement.
- We must receive your completed travel reimbursement form, plus proof of purchase, within 30 days of the event taking place.
If you’re unsure if you’re eligible, just contact our team at opendays@gre.ac.uk.
The reimbursement covers travel costs up to the value of £50 GBP, if you use the following transport methods:
- Bus
- Car (to pay towards petrol only – from your home postcode to the university and the university back to your home)
- Coach
- Train
- Other public transport (ie DLR, tram, underground).
You won’t be reimbursed for the following:
- Car hire
- Taxi/mini cab
- A train fine
- First class coach/train fares
The travel reimbursement is for you. It isn’t available for any guests you bring to the event.
How to apply
To apply, either:
- Photograph your completed form and travel receipts and email them to us at opendays@gre.ac.uk.
- Send your completed form and receipts to the following address:
Travel Reimbursements, Student Recruitment Events, Bronte B102, University of Greenwich, Avery Hill Road, London SE9 2HB.
We cannot reimburse any claims that are made after 30 days from the date of your visit.
The most you can claim is £50. If your travel costs are less than this, we’ll refund the amount paid. If they are more than £50, we will reimburse you the sum of £50 only.
When you submit your claim, you must also provide your tickets and any receipts, and/or mobile screenshots of these.
How will my claim be paid?
Once we have your reimbursement request, we'll send your details to our finance team who will process the travel reimbursement for the total amount if it’s under £50, or up to £50 if it’s over that amount. You will usually receive the funds directly into your designated bank account within 30 days, but it may take longer around university closures and bank holidays. If you don’t have your payment after 30 days, please contact finance@gre.ac.uk
Data protection
The university processes personal data belonging to its applicants, students and others and complies at all times with current data protection legislation. Further details are provided in our Privacy notices.
