Dr Alistair Bogaars
Lecturer in Project Management
Alistair is a Lecturer in the School of Business, Operations and Strategy in the Greenwich Business School, prior to this Alistair was employed as a Teaching Fellow in the Department for Systems Management and Strategy from September 2020-2021.
Alistair completed his PhD with the Greenwich Business School in March 2021 - his thesis examined fuel and transport poverty, with respect to Government policy in the UK. Alistair completed an MSc Environmental Conservation (2010) and BSc Environmental Biology with European Study (1997) with the School of Science at the University of Greenwich. He is an active member of the Connected Cities Research Group (CCRG) where he leads on Sustainable Transport research.
Alistair has a keen interest in pedagogy research and is participating in several projects supported by the Scholarship Excellence in Business Education (SEBE) group at the University of Greenwich.
Alistair has been a member of the University of Greenwich LGBT+ Staff Community since December 2020, and he has participated in range of activities including the training on Trans and Non-Binary Inclusion and the Allyship and Bystander Training Project.
Responsibilities within the university
Alistair is the Programme Leader for the BA Hons Business with Marketing and Business with Finance Programmes.
Alistair is a Module Leader for the TRAN 1063 Introduction to Logistics and Transport (Level 4), BUSI 1318 Advanced Project Management (Level 6) and TRAN 1028 Sustainable Transport (Level 6) modules. Alistair also teaches on the BUSI 1333 Introduction to Business Process (Level 4), BUSI 1637 Discover Project Management (Level 4), BUSI 1712 Project Planning and Management (Level 5) and BUSI 1668 Integrated Operations Management (Level 7) Modules.
Alistair is the placement tutor for two students on the BUSI 1636 Placement Module.
Alistair is currently supervising Master’s student dissertations on the Executive MBA and MA programmes in the Business School.
Alistair is an active mentor for the University of Greenwich Enterprise Challenge.
- Alistair’s 2020/21 mentee – Alina Hlihor (Civil Engineering) won the Most Social Impact (audience choice) winning £500 with ‘The Green Atom’ in March 2021.
- Alistair’s 2021/22 mentees were Inna Halasyova and Andreas Arany-Toth (Design) who were semi-finalists with the ‘Design Dynamo’ Social Enterprise project.
Recognition
Alistair is currently working towards Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
Research / Scholarly interests
Alistair is an active member of the Connected Cities Research Group (CCRG) and Networks and Urban Systems Centre (NUSC) at the University of Greenwich.
Alistair is currently working on research related to Sustainable Transport and Waste, Smart Cities, Co-teaching, Student Employability Success and the Greenwich Student Green Hub.
