Dr Mohammad AlAhmad PhD, MSc, PGcert HE, FHEA, CMBE

Dr Mohammad Alahmad is an academic and practitioner in accounting, finance, and business analytics with extensive experience in UK higher education. He holds a PhD from the University of Portsmouth, alongside an MSc in Finance and an MSc in Accounting and Financial Management.

He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a CBME Fellow, and is currently completing Associate Certified Membership of the Association for Learning Technology (Associate CMALT), reflecting his commitment to technology-enhanced learning and digital pedagogy.

Dr Alahmad teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the University of Greenwich. His teaching expertise includes management accounting, financial analysis, business intelligence, and business analytics. He adopts a practice-oriented, student-centred approach that bridges theory and real-world application, integrating case studies, business modelling, and data analysis using industry-relevant tools such as Bloomberg, STATA, Qlik, and advanced spreadsheet modelling. He has significant experience teaching highly international and diverse cohorts and actively promotes inclusive and engaging learning environments.

His research interests lie in financial reporting, corporate governance, sustainability, digitalisation, and risk disclosure. Dr Alahmad has presented his research at national and international conferences, including BAFA SEAG, FRBC, and ICFAB, and has published research examining risk disclosure practices in the UK. His work also engages with emerging markets and post conflict economic development, particularly in the Middle East.

Dr Alahmad brings substantial professional and international experience to his academic role. He has worked in financial planning and analysis consultancy and banking, including experience with Oliver Wyman Group. Fluent in Arabic, English, and Chinese, he has extensive experience working with international institutions and global stakeholders.

Alongside his teaching and research, Dr Alahmad is strongly committed to student employability and professional development. He actively supports students with career planning, CV and cover letter development, internship applications, and interview preparation, contributing to initiatives that enhance students’ analytical, digital, and professional skills and prepare graduates for global careers.

Responsibilities within the university

At the University of Greenwich, Dr Alahmad leads and contributes to several undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including Introduction to Management Accounting and Personal and Professional Development. He has also led the design and delivery of Business Analytics I, a core module within the Accounting and Business Analytics programme. His teaching emphasises Technology Enhanced Learning and hands-on use of industry tools such as Excel, Bloomberg, STATA, and Qlik to support inclusive learning and graduate employability.
