Romina Hassanzadeh Borhani

Romina Borhani BSc, MA

PhD researcher

My PhD research investigates consumers’ ethical perceptions and trust in AI-personalised advertising in the GDPR era. My supervisors are Dr Yakun Zhang and Dr Octavio Murekian.

My MA in Marketing Communications provided me with an extensive understanding of consumer behaviour and marketing strategies.

My BSc in Computer Engineering complements my marketing knowledge through providing technical skills in data analysis, algorithms and programming, enabling me to comprehend AI-driven personalisation and its ethical outcomes. This interdisciplinary background uniquely positioned me to research how AI-personalised ads impact consumer trust, an important issue in the GDPR context.

I also worked as a marketing specialist for an e-commerce business in the UK, developing marketing campaigns for customer acquisition and increasing sales.

Responsibilities within the university

I am an MPhil/PhD student in Marketing, conducting academic research.
