Key details
Sevra Yagmur Sengul
PhD researcher
I am a PhD researcher in Marketing, Events and Tourism at the University of Greenwich. My research explores how sharing economy platforms in tourism, such as Airbnb and Uber, expand across different national contexts. I am particularly interested in understanding how regulatory, economic and cultural factors influence this process, with an initial focus on the United Kingdom and Türkiye. My supervisors are Dr Samantha Chaperon, Dr Ryan Yung and Dr Maruf Salimon.
Before beginning my PhD, I gained professional experience in sales, key account management and commercial operations in Türkiye, working with major retail accounts and supporting field-based teams. These experiences encouraged my interest in how businesses grow, adapt and operate across different market environments. I hold an MSc in Marketing with Distinction from Ulster University and a BA in Management from Boğaziçi University. I also have experience in early years education in the United Kingdom and have completed training in teaching and learning in higher education.
