Key details

Terrance Ancheary

PhD Researcher ( Marketing, Events & Tourism) VC Scholarship

Terrance studies tourism, where places, people and social media collide.

His academic journey began with a BSc from IHM Ahmedabad, India, followed by an MSc in Hospitality Administration, specialising in Sales & Marketing Management, from NCHMCT Noida, and also an MA in Tourism & Travel Management. His academic background is complemented by professional experience in the hospitality industry, including his role as Senior Associate – Sales & Marketing with Radisson Hotel Group.

Now pursuing a Mphil/PhD at the University of Greenwich, his research explores how social media transforms everyday places into highly visible and consumable tourist destinations, focusing on social media-induced tourism, place commodification, and how residents perceive, negotiate, adapt, or resist these transformations. His research is supervised by Dr Lauren Siegel, Dr Samantha Chaperon and Dr Graham Symon.

At the heart of his research lies a simple idea: behind every destination photographed, promoted and shared online is a place that someone calls home.
