Dr Thu Nguyen BSc, MSc, FHEA, PhD

Lecturer in Management Accounting

Dr Thu Nguyen is a lecturer in Management Accounting. Thu achieved her PhD in Accounting from Aston University. Prior to joining the University of Greenwich in 2021, she worked at Birmingham City University as a Visiting Lecturer and at Aston University as a Teaching Assistant where she led and taught different modules in Accounting at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She also has seven years of experience teaching in higher education in Vietnam. She has also gained a lot of practical knowledge and experience from working as a senior accountant for different companies in Vietnam and US. She used to be the Treasurer for Birmingham and Warwickshire Archaeology Society from 2018 to 2021.

Responsibilities within the university

Thu is the Deputy Programme Leader of BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance.

She is the Module leader of Advanced Management Accounting (Level 6) and Accounting for Performance and Control (Level 7). She also supervises postgraduate students and teaches following modules:

  • Management Accounting (Level 5)
  • Personal and Professional Development (Level 4)

Research / Scholarly interests

Thu's PhD focuses on the social construction of the idea of intellectual capital. Currently, she is wishing to extend the adoption of the social construction viewpoint to different issues. She is capable of using both quantitative and qualitative methods.

She is also interested in narrative analysis and visual methodologies which are now some of the main topics in her studies.
