Dr Amy Moon
Senior Research Fellow
Dr Amy Moon is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Greenwich, based within the Institute for Lifecourse Development. Her research is grounded in social and developmental psychology, with a particular focus on wellbeing and resilience across childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood. She has extensive expertise in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research, and has led a wide range of multidisciplinary projects in collaboration with local authorities, charities, SMEs, and international partners.
Since joining the University of Greenwich in 2008, Dr Moon has played a key role in securing external funding from bodies such as the Interreg IVA Cross-Channel Programme, Kent County Council, and Health Education South London. Dr Moon leads the Youth Wellbeing Theme within the ILD Centre for Children and Families and facilitates the ILD Anti-bullying Network. The translation of research findings into practical outcomes for non-academic audiences is central to her work, and she is actively involved in public engagement, evaluation, and knowledge exchange.
Dr Moon has published in leading journals and regularly presents at national and international conferences. Her teaching contributions span MSc supervision and doctoral research, including PhD and EdD students, and she supports postgraduate research training.
In addition to her academic achievements, she has been recognised as an 'Inspirational Role Model' by the Athena Swan Committee and is a graduate of the Aurora Women in Leadership Programme. She also supports the University’s REF submissions and contributes to the visibility and impact of the Institute through research dissemination and stakeholder engagement.
Her research interests include student resilience, adolescent wellbeing, social identity, and the application of psychological theory to real-world challenges in education, mental health, and community development.
