Helen Lovell
Senior Lecturer
Helen Lovell joined the University in June 2026 as a Senior Lecturer on the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) programme.
She is a qualified adult and children’s nurse and went on to complete SCPHN training in 2013, qualifying as a school nurse.
In 2022, Helen was awarded a Master’s degree in Advanced Child Protection. Her dissertation explored safeguarding young people involved in gangs and youth violence within educational settings.
In her role as a safeguarding school nurse, Helen delivered targeted health interventions for children and young people subject to child in need and child protection plans. She also carried out extensive outreach work with children educated outside mainstream school settings, those from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities, and Young Carers. Helen worked collaboratively with multi-agency partners to support young people at risk of exploitation, going missing, gang involvement, and youth violence.
Helen brings significant leadership experience in practice education, as well as in leading the delivery of school nursing and health visiting services.
At the University of Greenwich, Helen teaches across the SCPHN, Early Years and Vulnerable Children and Families programmes. She is committed to preparing and inspiring future practitioners to be ambitious in promoting the health and wellbeing of children, young people and families, and to improve outcomes for those who are most vulnerable and disadvantaged.
