Push yourself to reach your full potential

“It has been an amazing learning experience and has provided me with a fantastic opportunity to develop skills not just around nursing itself but around communication, academic skills and confidence to name but a few.”

Communities and societies

Our student-led societies offer a space for growth and the opportunity to make lasting friendships. You can take part in activities through your department and the Students’ Union. Here's a sample of the societies you can join, and how we foster a supportive culture for nurses of all backgrounds.

Research and partnerships

The Faculty of Education & Health works closely with charities, local authorities and the NHS. Recent research includes the career barriers facing black and ethnic minority nurses, health inequalities and the experience of vulnerable groups, and care quality in residential care and nursing homes.

The Nation’s Lifesaver

Dr Lesley Dibley’s innovate research into gastroenterology has been shared with 2,500 surgeons and 1,00 specialist nurses across Europe and given a voice to marginalised patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
