Senior Lecturer in Social Work

Jackie Yaskey is a Senior Lecturer for Social Work in the School of Human Sciences at the University of Greenwich since 2007. She is a Qualified child protection and fostering social worker with more than ten years' experience in both local authority and independent fostering agencies. She has acted as coordinator for a respite care scheme for children with disabilities for a local authority, and has chaired fostering panels and delivered training to foster carers. Jackie is qualified Practice Educator and NVQ Assessor.

Teaching areas include social work practice, safeguarding and looked after children and employability.

    • Delivered teaching on the BA Social Work programme.
  • February 2006-February 2012: Associate Lecturer The Open University
    • Delivered teaching on the BA Social Work and supported students in their practice placements.
  • November 2005- June 2006: Assessing Social Worker- Safe Haven Fostering & Leaving Care Services
    • Assessed prospective foster carers and took them to fostering panel for approval
  • July 2003-November 2005: Supervising Social Worker- The Adolescent & Children's Trust.
    • Supported and assessed prospective foster carers who cared for looked after children.
  • July 2001- June 2003: Practice Placement Co-ordinator Bromley College of Further &Higher Education
    • Responsible for identifying and securing a range of social work placements for the Diploma in Social Work
  • June 1998- July 2001: Social Work Co-ordinator Family Link respite care scheme Westminster City Council Family Placements Team.
    • Identified and assessed prospective respite carers to offer respite care to children with a range of disabilities.
  • September 1994: June 1998 Child Protection Social Worker London Borough of Greenwich

Responsibilities within the university

  • Programme Leader BA Social Work 2019 on going
  • Responsible for the effective leadership and management of the undergraduate social work programme. Responsible for quality assurance and management of the programme.
  • 2010-2017 Programme Leader MA Social Work -Took the lead in developing a postgraduate social work programme at the university which was approved by General Social Care Council in 2010.
