Senior Lecturer in Public Health

Dr. Ramjee Bhandari is a public health practitioner and academic with a rich background in health geography. His academic journey took a pivotal turn when he pursued further training in health geography, earning both an MA (2014) and a PhD (2018) from the University of Durham.

In 2018, Ramjee joined the University of Glasgow as a post-doctoral research fellow, where he played a key role in a research consortium focused on the sustainable development of cities within developing countries. This experience further solidified his expertise and commitment to improving public health through interdisciplinary research and collaboration.

In 2021, Ramjee’s journey continued at the University of Chester, where he taught postgraduate courses in public health and supervised doctoral students, demonstrating his dedication to mentoring the next generation of public health professionals.

Joining the University of Greenwich in February 2024 as a senior lecturer in Public Health, Dr. Bhandari brings with him a wealth of experience, a global perspective, and a steadfast commitment to advancing public health.

His research during these years has been primarily cantered on health inequalities, with a particular focus on the critical role of place in creating and perpetuating these disparities.

Dr. Ramjee Bhandari is deeply engaged in research that bridges the fields of public health and health geography, with a focus on exploring the complex relationship between place and health inequalities. His work is characterised by:

  • Health Inequalities: Investigating the root causes of disparities in health outcomes and access to healthcare services, with an emphasis on vulnerable populations in developing countries.
  • Role of Place Exploring: how geographical locations influence health inequalities, aiming to understand the spatial dimensions of health and wellbeing.
  • Sustainable Urban Development: Studying the impact of urbanization on health and identifying strategies for sustainable city development that promotes public health.
