Konstantin Kapinchev

Dr Konstantin Kapinchev MSc, PhD, FHEA

Senior Lecturer in Computer Science

Konstantin Kapinchev is currently Senior Lecturer at the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Greenwich. He obtained PhD in Computer Science from the University of Kent in 2017 and MSc in Computer Systems and Technologies from the Technical University of Varna in 2002. Since 2016, he is member of the Technical Programme Committee of the Internation Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems, an IEEE sponsored conference. Since 2018, he is a Visiting Researcher at the School of Physical Sciences at the University of Kent and from 2020 a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

His research interests are in the area of Concurrent and Parallel Computing and Digital Signal Processing. He also works in the field of Financial Signal Processing and the extraction of insights from financial time series by applying various signal processing techniques.

  • Operating Systems
  • Information Analysis and Visualisation
  • Mathematics for Computer Science
  • Programming Fundamentals for Data Science

Recognition

  • Visiting Researcher at the University of Kent (2018)
  • Fellow of the Higher Education Academy  (2020)
  • Member of the Technical Programme Committee of the International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (2016)

Research / Scholarly interests

Konstantin’s research interests are in the areas of concurrency, parallel computing and digital signal processing. More specifically, the research involves coarse-grained (CPU-based) and fine-grained (GPU-based) parallel optimisations of digital signal processing algorithms employed in real-time systems. Some of the aims of the research projects are to identify parallel approaches that deliver optimal performance and real-time operation. His recent research activities include the application of signal processing techniques in financial time series..
