Dr George Fitton BSc, MSc, PhD

Senior Research Software Engineer

George is a mathematical modeller and software engineer with over a decade of experience spanning academia and industry. He holds a BSc in Mathematics, an MSc in Numerical Methods, and a PhD in Stochastic Processes.

His academic work includes research into stochastic models of fluids and mathematical and statistical models in safety science. In industry, he has developed numerical models for complex financial derivatives at top-tier investment banks and has led digital transformation initiatives and cloud-based scientific software development in the consumer products sector.

As of 2025, George is part of the research software engineering team for the M³4 Impact project, developing cloud capabilities and modernizing scientific applications. He is committed to open-source practices and cross-disciplinary collaboration, with a focus on making advanced modelling techniques accessible and impactful across research and industry.
