Nageena Frost

Dr Nageena Frost BSc, MSc, PhD

Senior Lecturer in Computing

With a PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics from the University of Greenwich, Dr Nageena Frost brings extensive Higher Education experience teaching Computer Science, Data Science, and Mathematics across several universities in London and the Southeast. Her academic career has been defined by a commitment to high‑quality teaching and curriculum development, with substantial experience delivering modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At the University of Greenwich, she has led modules in programming, mathematics, and data science, fostering student engagement through applied learning, innovative assessment design, and integration of emerging technologies.

Dr Frost’s professional background extends into the finance industry, where she worked as an IT specialist focusing on back‑end programming and compliance‑driven software solutions. During this time, she contributed to the development of advanced systems for detecting fraudulent activities in financial derivatives, applying rigorous analytical and programming techniques. Her role also included work across both front‑end and back‑end development, giving her a comprehensive understanding of software engineering workflows and the practical challenges involved in designing secure, scalable systems in highly regulated environments.

Complementing her teaching and industry practice, she is actively engaged in research at the intersection of Data Science, Machine Learning, and Predictive Analytics. Dr Frost’s research portfolio spans financial asset pricing and agricultural modelling, with a particular focus on developing advanced predictive models to support real‑world decision‑making. This includes machine learning approaches for crop disease detection and intelligent systems for analysing financial markets. This work aims to contribute to interdisciplinary research that harnesses data‑driven insights for societal and economic benefit.

In addition to academic and research responsibilities, Dr Frost has held senior leadership roles, including Programme Lead for pre-masters Engineering, Computing, and Business programmes. This role involved substantial engagement in programme management, accreditation processes, and quality assurance activities whilst playing a key role in coordinating with academic teams and external partners to ensure coherent programme management, effective academic oversight, and a positive student experience. These experiences have strengthened her leadership, strategic planning, and cross‑functional collaboration skills, supporting institutional goals and enhancing the overall student experience.
