Ahmed Khalil

PhD Researcher

After obtaining his BSc. Degree in Architecture in 2001 at the University of Alexandria, Ahmed Khalil worked till 2017 as an architect at AWAD Associates; an architectural firm based in Alexandria, Egypt, and working mainly in renovation, rehabilitation & reuse of heritage buildings. During this period, he gained a lot of practical experience in Architectural design, especially in the field of heritage conservation and renovation.

In 2016, Ahmed received his Master's Degree from the University of Alexandria with a thesis titled "Implementing Sustainability in Retrofitting Heritage Buildings - Case Study: Villa Antoniadis, Alexandria, Egypt" which addressed the two subjects of Sustainability and Heritage conservation, and the interrelationship between them.

His research interests expand from Heritage building conservation and retrofitting to sustainability and building performance to the Heritage BIM application to the built heritage environment.

Thesis title:  Heritage BIM for Improved Performance and Management of Listed Buildings
