Jellen Olivares-Jirsell FHEA, MA

Jellen Olivares-Jirsell is a Lecturer in Academic Writing and Politics and is the module leader for the Approaches to Development module. Her research focuses on the impacts of neoliberalism and populism on welfare provision globally. Jellen has published in Global Affairs, Populism, and the Populism & Politics journal, and she has previously contributed to research projects at various universities, including Swansea University in Wales and Malmö University in Sweden. Jellen’s research interests include politics, norms and ideologies, populism (right-wing politics), neoliberalism, welfare states, trust, developmental economics and polarisation.
