Claire was one of three Greenwich representatives in the England squad for the 1998 Rugby World Cup.
An all-action Number Eight, she won 42 caps for England. Unusually for a forward, she was also a prodigious place-kicker.
In 2003 she became the first woman to score a try at Twickenham.
Claire was an inspirational captain at Saracens from 1998-2002, leading the club to the Premiership title in 2000 and again in 2002. Her career there lasted 22 years.
Claire’s rugby journey began at Greenwich with the university team.
Like the others, Claire combined rugby with a full-time career and is now Assistant Head at Langdon Park School, a secondary school in east London.
