Senior Leader Apprenticeship
Advance your career and expand your leadership skillset with a Senior Leader Apprenticeship.
The Senior Leader Apprenticeship (SLA) was designed as a career accelerator for senior leaders and managers in small, medium, and large organisations in a variety of sectors such as manufacturing, education, retail, finance, health, technology, engineering, and construction. This programme aims to upskill learners in leadership and strategy, finance and planning, business design and development, sales and marketing, data analytics and entrepreneurship, as well as people management and sustainability.
Learners will also be taught, assessed, and supported through off-the-job and on-the-job training to ensure they obtain the theoretical and practical skills and the portfolio of evidence necessary to prepare their End Point Assessment (EPA) for the independent apprenticeship certification by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). Upon successfully passing their EPA learners will be awarded a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Greenwich.

Entry requirements
Applicants should have:
- 2-5 years post-qualification work experience in managerial roles.
- A minimum of 2:2 degree and / or professional qualification.
- Applicants who do not have a degree are welcomed provided they can demonstrate high levels of achievement, exceptional career progression or evidence of leadership potential.

For entry: applicants with professional qualifications and/or five years of relevant business full-time work experience will be considered on an individual basis.
For exemption: If you hold qualifications or courses from another higher education institution, these may exempt you from courses of this degree.
How you will learn
Teaching
Learning takes place through a combination of timetabled learning in lectures and seminars as well as independent study. The overall timetabled workload amounts to one day per week on Friday, between 9am and 6pm.Seminars and workshops enable you to discuss and develop your understanding of topics covered in lectures in smaller groups. You will also be able to meet your personal mentor.You can view more information about how each module is taught within our 'What you will study' section.
Class sizes
Lectures are normally attended by larger groups, and seminars/tutorials by smaller groups. All students will have opportunities for one-to-one time with their mentors.
Independent learning
Throughout your apprenticeship, we will encourage you to learn independently with support from your lecturers and mentors to achieve your goals and broaden your knowledge through online learning and independent reading. Timetabled learning includes some time for learners to engage in independent learning on campus and to prepare their assessments in class.
Overall workload
Part-Time/Blended Learning: The programme is structured to support individuals who are working full-time and need to balance study with work and home commitments. Learners can expect to engage in 10 hours of learning per week and is delivered over 2 years.
Assessment
The degree employs 'blended learning', so your outputs and assessments may be based around the following:
- Real-world case studies in business
- Group work for discussion, research and presentations
- Business simulations
- Role play exercises and reflective practice for professional development
- Portfolio, outlining your learning achievements
- Self-study and research facilitated online.
The focus of assessment on our MBA is to test your understanding and ability to apply your knowledge.
Feedback summary
We aim to provide feedback on assignments and to release examination results within 15 working days.

Fees and funding
The course fees are shared between government and employers. Visit our degree apprenticeships pages to find out how the cost of your course is met.
Other costs
Apprenticeships are paid for by employers, not apprentices.
Employers with a payroll of more than £3 million can use their apprenticeship levy contributions to pay for places on apprenticeship programmes.
Any business with a payroll below £3 million is eligible for government funding that will cover at least 95% of the cost of an apprenticeship programme.
Additional incentives are also available to employers who take on young apprentices.
