LETS Lab Digital Lounge Series 2020/21

A panel discussion exploring the potential AI has to revolutionise recruitment and to eliminate bias as well as the legal implications of the use of machine learning in hiring processes.

The event will include presentations/demos by a panel of experts followed by a moderated Q&A.

Speakers:

Robin Allen QC, Cloisters Chambers & AI-Law Hub

Robin Allen QC has appeared in over 145 reported cases in the Industrial Relations Law Reports (more than any other barrister), including many pathfinding appellate cases at the highest level in the UK and Europe. He has been instructed in over 40 cases in the House of Lords / Supreme Court and has undertaken test cases in relation to every protected characteristic. He has worked with the European Commission on the drafting of the two key equality directives in 2000, and lectured on their meaning to judges and NGOs and European Equality Bodies.His talk will present the findings of their paper "Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Algorithms and Discrimination Law – The New Frontier".

Dr Nathan Mondragon, Chief IO Psychologist, Hirevue

Dr. Nathan Mondragon is Chief IO Psychologist at HireVue and responsible for building, researching, and maintaining the AI-driven assessment product. In this role the IO Psychology team at HireVue work side-by-side with the Data Science team to create and deliver AI-based video and game assessments. Nathan has over 25 years of extensive experience in the HCM space and is a recognized expert in the blending of IO Psychology tools with technology to deliver seamless integrated recruitment, hiring, and development solutions. 

His presentation will discuss :

  • Using AI technology to create psychological profiles of applicants data.
  • Profiles link to job requirements to help identify the best applicant for the job.
  • De-biasing the AI algorithms to create more fair and equitable hiring practices.

Ben Kaminsky, Founder and CEO, EVA.AI

Founder & CEO of HR Automation Platform EVA.ai . Ben has 15 years of experience in HR tech innovation, Digital Transformation & Business Intelligence. Ben has worked internationally with VW, adidas, SAP, CISCO, the European Commission and the United Nations Development Programme.

His presentation will address the following points:
