SOUND/IMAGE Festival is an annual international event at the University of Greenwich exploring sound / image practice across music, film and sound.
Since 2015, SOUND/IMAGE Festival has platformed thousands of artists, scholars, and listeners from across the globe via talks, screenings, loudspeakers orchestra concerts, performances, and installations across our world class labs facilities (SHIFT) in our Immersive Digital Theatre in Woolwich and our Stockwell Street building in Greenwich.
The multi-day event curates a rich programme of immersive sound, video, and 360 degree film, allowing diverse voices and perspectives to converge, celebrate, reflect and imagine new ideas at the cutting edge of audiovisual theory and practice.

Community is so important for artists who are struggling to share their work and to feel like they are important in the world. The sense of community from this event is really fantastic.
Sound and Image has been a really interesting convergence of academia, artists working with emerging technology, and this intersection between moving image and spatial audio.
It feels very global. It feels very current, and I think some urgent questions are being addressed about the role of sound and image in how we perceive societies today.

Sound and Image: Aesthetics and Practices
Aesthetics and Practices brings together international artist scholars to explore diverse sound and image practices, applying critical perspectives to interrogate and evaluate both the aesthetics and practices that underpin the audiovisual.
Getting to Greenwich
Travelling around London
We highly recommend you download the app, Citymapper, before arriving in the UK. This app is fantastic for navigating around the (sometimes quite confusing) London Underground network. The information on the app is always up to date, and it will give you several different options for travel combining trains, underground, busses etc.
Greenwich Amenities
Greenwich Park is one of London’s best parks and from the top of the hill you can access the Royal Observatory, stand on the Greenwich Mean Time line, and capture an incredible picture of the London skyline.
Greenwich is a bustling vibrant area with diverse cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars in the area, including Greenwich Market where you can choose a variety of food options from the street food vendors, all within easy walking distance of the festival.
