The Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers

The University of Greenwich are signatories to the revised Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers (Researcher Development Concordat). The Concordat aims to set the gold standard in employment and support for researchers and researcher careers in higher education in the UK, recognising that talented researchers are vital for the HEI sector and a wide range of other employment sectors.

It aims to increase the attractiveness and sustainability of research careers in the UK and to improve the quantity, quality and impact of research for the benefit of UK society and the economy. The Concordat is an agreement between the funders and employers of researchers in the UK to manage researchers according to agreed principles, and to provide support for their career development.

By adopting its principles, the UK has also adopted the Code of Conduct for the recruitment of researchers specified by the European Charter for Researchers.

The Concordat has three defining principles:

HR Excellence in Research (HREiR)

The university has been successful in gaining the European Commission's HR Excellence in Research accreditation, demonstrating its commitment to improving the working conditions and career development of researchers.
