Parnian Baghdadi

MSc Accounting and Finance Student

One of the most important reasons I chose this university was because of the strong academic system — especially in Accounting and Finance. And the support team and academic environment make this university a really useful place to study

When Parnian Baghdadi began searching for postgraduate programmes in London, she knew she wanted more than just a degree — she wanted strong academic foundations, practical financial tools, and an environment where she could truly grow. She found all of this, and more, at the University of Greenwich.

Today, as a student of the MSc Accounting and Finance, Parnian reflects on how the programme strengthened her confidence, expanded her professional skillset, and prepared her for the next steps in her career.

Why Greenwich? Academic strength, real support, and a campus like no other

For Parnian, Greenwich stood out immediately.

“One of the most important reasons I chose this university was because of the strong academic system — especially in Accounting and Finance. And the support team and academic environment make this university a really useful place to study"

She was particularly drawn to the programme’s balance of theoretical knowledge and real-world application, something she believed was essential for building a solid foundation in finance.

Beyond academics, the supportive environment played a major role in her decision.

Whether through email or in-person meetings, she found tutors and lecturers consistently available to help guide her through coursework, dissertation questions, and career planning.

Studying in a UNESCO World Heritage Site made her academic experience even more special. The iconic Greenwich campus became not only a place of learning, but also a place to recharge — something she valued during the intensity of a master’s degree.

“The campus is incredible. In your breaks, you can enjoy the surroundings between your classes.”

Developing practical financial skills

A highlight of Parnian’s experience was the ability to work with real industry tools, she also benefited from hands-on learning in the university’s Bloomberg Trading Room.

“I was impressed with the Bloomberg Trading Room. You can access companies’ financial data to help with coursework and your dissertation. It really improves your financial knowledge.”

Using Bloomberg terminals helped her strengthen her analytical abilities and broaden her understanding of how global financial markets operate. These practical skills, she says, will be invaluable in her future roles.

Prepared for her future career

Throughout the programme, Parnian developed essential skills such as critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving, while gaining a deeper understanding of how global events affect financial markets.

Her advice to future students?

“If you’re looking for a university that helps and supports you with your professional and future goals, choose the University of Greenwich. By finishing your degree here, you will be prepared to achieve your goals and professional aims.”
