About our Awards

Our Staff Awards celebration is a key moment in our calendar. This year our awards ceremony will be taking place at the Greenwich Borough Hall and we hope you can join us there.

This is Our Time Staff Awards 2026 is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate your hard work and commitment to our students and each other. We want everyone to celebrate and have a fantastic time at our events, which are all about you!

Timings and entry

Doors open at 2:15pm, with the awards ceremony starting promptly at 3pm. Please arrive with plenty of time to enter the venue.

Staff ID requirement

Colleagues must bring their Greenwich staff ID to gain entry to the event. IDs will be checked on arrival, so please ensure you have yours with you to avoid delays.

During the event

The event will be hosted by our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jane Harrington.

The ceremony will feature an array of presenters and special feature videos, alongside the presentation of our 14 awards.

We’ll also be joined by Urban Soul Orchestra, whose classical renditions of pop hits will provide a soundtrack to the evening.

Food and drink

All guests will be welcomed with a choice of alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks on arrival at Greenwich Borough Hall. Popcorn will also be available to enjoy.

Following the ceremony, guests can indulge in a specially prepared afternoon tea, accompanied by a selection of drinks. Water will be available throughout the event.

Dietary requirements

Dietary requirements were collected during the Eventbrite registration process, and our catering team has been informed. If you have any last-minute queries or changes, please contact InternalCommunications@greenwich.ac.uk as soon as possible.

Alcohol policy

Alcohol will be available on arrival and after the ceremony. We kindly ask guests to drink responsibly. A range of non-alcoholic options will be available throughout.

Photography

There will be filming and photography taking place at the event. If you don’t want to be captured, please contact InternalCommunications@greenwich.ac.uk or let a member of the team know on arrival.

Accessibility

All venues have been assessed for accessibility and are equipped with facilities to support the needs of our colleagues. We are committed to ensuring an inclusive environment for all attendees.

There is lift access to the main hall on the first floor. If you have any specific accessibility requirements for any of the venues, please contact InternalCommunications@greenwich.ac.uk so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Quiet space

If you’d like a quiet place to take a break during the event, the Minor Hall room on the ground floor will be available for you to use.

University bus service

Greenwich Borough Hall is a short walk from our Stockwell Street Building.

You can take the free university inter-campus bus service to the event if you are travelling from another campus.

After the event - from Greenwich

To Medway

An additional stop to the normal route has been added to the bus schedule for the day of the Awards Ceremony only. Buses will stop at the TfL stop near Greenwich Borough Hall (Greenwich Station, Stop L) for staff to alight. Buses returning to Medway and Avery Hill will also depart from this location. Therefore, there is no need to travel back to the main Greenwich campus.

Public transport

Greenwich is the nearest DLR and National Rail station to Greenwich Borough Hall. Cutty Sark DLR station is also a short walk to the venue.

Parking

For staff wishing to drive to the event, you can park on the main campus with a visitor booking on a pay-as-you-go basis. The charge is £5 per day using Paybyphone with location code 811392. Failure to pay will result in a recharge to your department.
