Our courses

You can study environmental science degrees full-time, part-time or take a sandwich course with a work placement. We also offer an extended degree, which has a foundation year. With fieldwork in the UK and abroad, these practical courses lead to a variety of rewarding careers.

Greenwich recognised for food shortage breakthrough


The University's work to tackle food shortage in Africa has been celebrated by Universities UK. This includes a method to extend the shelf life of the critical cassava crop.

Our active student-led societies offer a space for personal and academic growth, as well as new opportunities to make lasting friendships. Students can take part in activities throughout the year, both through the department and via the wider Students’ Union.

Research and scholarly activities inform our learning and teaching and complement the enterprise activities that we provide. The National Resources Institute (NRI) specialises in agriculture, environment and sustainability.

Applying science to global problems


Dr Frances Hawkes at the university’s Natural Resources Institute has worked on a pioneering solution against malaria, which affects over 200 million people every year.

Join us as a research student

Graduates from our undergraduate science courses can move on to our MRes degree. Normally, you will need a 2.1 or First. If you have a suitable research proposal in a science discipline, we can help you apply to the university and find the appropriate supervisor.
