Midwifery is arriving at Medway this September

From this September, Greenwich's BSc Hons in Midwifery will also be taught at our Medway Campus.

The University of Greenwich is delighted to announce that from this September our hugely popular BSc Hons in Midwifery will also be taught at our Medway Campus in addition to our Avery Hill Campus in southeast London.

You’ll have access to our simulation facilities where you will be able to practice your acquired skills such as the examination of the new-born infant, and be joining a university whose Nursing and Midwifery provision was voted number one in London for satisfaction with teaching (Guardian League Tables 2022).

The course structure and content will enable you to deliver contemporary evidence-based care in the changing face of healthcare provision in the 21st Century. Our midwifery degree prepares you for the role and responsibilities of a registered midwife and you'll be working in the NHS serving the women and families of southeast London and Kent.

Study our degree in midwifery for rewarding careers supporting women and their families through childbirth. Midwives are the lead professionals at all straightforward births, whether this takes place at home, a birth centre or in hospital.

Whilst on the programme, you will acquire the knowledge and skills you need to meet the needs of women and babies. This will include childbirth in the delivery suite, birth centres and home environments. You will learn accountability for the role you play in their lives, both during and after pregnancy. Care will be based on best available evidence and reflect contemporary knowledge, practice, research, and technology.

The undergraduate programme continues to provide opportunities to achieve registration as a Midwife with the NMC and obtain a first degree within three-years. There remains a significant shortage of midwives across the country, and Kent faces particular challenges with varied vacancy rates within Healthcare provision.

Completion of these programmes continue to successfully add to the midwifery workforce, and we receive considerable support from our NHS partners and stakeholders in achieving this.
