As you will be aware, the University has undertaken significant work on Academic Workload Planning (AWP) in the last year, following an external review of our processes. This will enable us to plan effectively, efficiently and fairly as we work towards the goals as set out in This is our Time 2030 University Strategy.
We are pleased to share that we have now received the Academic Workload Planning system from software supplier Simitive and will begin the system roll-out phase.
2022/23 will be our transition year in which we both roll out and further test and refine the tool and associated processes. We continue to actively encourage feedback during this time on all aspects of academic workload (the tool, its tariffs and associated allocation processes).
Next steps
- Line managers have been contacted directly to arrange system training planned before the end of the academic year.
- System awareness training is available for all academic staff from September. You can book a space on these sessions here.
- From September, refresher training for line managers and faculty tailored training will be available to book.
- For our NRI colleagues, separate meetings are taking place with school representatives to discuss how the new system will interact with your current approach.
We have created a dedicated space on the staff portal where you will find information relating to AWP. This page will be updated with information as we move through the rollout and transition year. Please continue to use it as a useful reference point.
