A guide to the improvements we've made at Avery Hill campus

TLDRoffon

We want you to enjoy studying, living and working at Avery Hill campus. These pages summarise the changes that we've made as part of our commitment to improve our Avery Hill campus.

We are committed to building and maintaining an accessible and inclusive environment for all our students and staff to successfully learn, work, live and socialise on our Avery Hill campus.

As a result, we are transforming our Southwood site as part of an extensive building and refurbishment programme.  The planned work has continued throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, and we are proud to be opening improved spaces and new buildings for this academic year.  We still have some work taking place, including the landscaping.  However with the help of our Landscape Architect, a former University of Greenwich student who knows the campus well, we expect to make further improvements to the campus during Term 1.

Studying, working, living and socialising

On Avery Hill campus you will find the the Village Shop - the Students' Union shop which includes a Starbucks, the university bus service which connects our campuses, a Prayer Room in Bronte building, a sustainable Edible Garden allowing you to help grow produce which you can pick to eat.  There's social space in The Dome, along with a cafeteria and a gym.

Our other sports facilities include the Sports Hall and the All Weather Sports Pitches.

You'll also find a Student Centre, and our Accommodation Services and Academic Skills teams, who along with the Greenwich Students' Union, are here to help and support students.

Transforming our campus

We have some great teaching spaces, and a brand new modern library which also provides a modern office space for our Academic staff.

Some work is still taking place, including work at Sparrows Farm to provide further stimulation spaces for paramedic and nursing students, a dedicated strength and conditioning area for sports science students, and more. We'll share more information as these spaces become available for use.

Share your stories and pictures with us

We are rightly proud of the work that's taken place, especially because it continued throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.  We know that quite a lot has changed, including in some cases how you access buildings, and routes around campus.

We also know that when things change it can be unsettling, and some things might not work exactly as expected. If you find things that aren't working then please let us know by Logging a Facilities Request. We'd much rather know about it (even if that's more than once) and be able to fix it, than not know at all.

Tell us why you love Avery Hill

We're keen to see and hear how you're using these new spaces, and we want to share these with our whole university community, as because of Covid-19 many of us won't be able to come and see the changes for ourselves just yet.

So whether you're a new student, a returning student, a student resident or a member of staff we want to hear from you.

We want you to show us around the new library spaces, inside the clinical skills labs, enjoying our green spaces or any space on campus and tell us why you love Avery Hill.  Tag @UniOfGreenwich on social media, and use #AveryHillImprovements or get in touch with Internal Communications.  If you'd like to be part of a small group showcasing our Avery Hill campus on the portal, Internal Communications would also like to hear from you.
