The Big White Wall (BWW) is a digital mental health and wellbeing service, which provides a 24/7 online, safe and anonymous mental health support for students.

Students can contact the BWW if they require mental health and wellbeing support at any time of the day or night, and is accessed from: https://www.bigwhitewall.co.uk/

The service is free, and students need to register using their university email address.  As part of registering they choose an anonymous username which is how they'll be known on the BWW.

Students will be able to access:

  • 'SupportNetwork' which is an anonymous online support mediated by counsellors.  Students will have access to peer and community support.
  • 'GuidedSupport' where they will have access to self-managed and clinically facilitated programmes for individuals and groups to undertake courses aimed at providing support for Mental Health and Wellbeing.

This document provides suggested referral scripts for you to use when discussing the Big White Wall with your students. We have also published an article for students on the student portal today, and you'll start to see posters around the university, if you have space to display an A3 poster please contact the Student Wellbeing Team.
