Charlton v Homophobia football tournament, Sunday 7 May Articles

Tickets for the tournament are free and and you can book them in advance on Eventbrite

The tournament will see four LGBTQI+ friendly teams taking part in a round-robin 11-a-side tournament and three of the teams taking part are returning from last year's tournament, which the university won.

This year our university team will play against:

  • Proud Valiants,  the official Charlton Athletic supporters club for LGBTQI+ Fans and allies
  • Bexley Invicta FC, the only LGBT+ friendly football team in south east London and Kent
  • A mystery fourth team who have yet to be announced.

We're proud to be supporting the event alongside Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT), Kick it Out, Fans for Diversity and Football v Homophobia and it would be great to see people from the Greenwich community at the event too.

Chair of our LGBT+ Staff Network Neil Cormack-Bissett said: "The University of Greenwich is thrilled to be involved in this fantastic event and supporting such a worthwhile cause. It is as a community of friends and allies, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, that we can make a stand against homophobia in all walks of life."
