Professor Derek Moore talks about dealing with the ups and downs of life

Pro Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Psychology, Derek offers some great tools and techniques that are useful at any time.

Back in March, Prof Derek Moore, the Pro Vice-Chancellor in the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences gave a talk for University Mental Health day on coping with the ups and downs of life and how to maintain wellbeing.

His talk, below, is possibly even more relevant now than it was then.

Derek provides techniques and ideas for coping with the hassles of everyday life, adjusting perceptions of control and ways that you can look after yourself. He also talks about issues relating to feeling that you can't cope,going beyond everyday stresses, and how you can look out for other people.

There are other ways you can look after your mental health too. Mind have published some information to help you manage your mental health amid the coronavirus outbreak, including ways to manage your mental health if you have to self-isolate or are working from home.

Students can find support on the Greenwich Students' Union stressbusters page, and access Big White Wall for free, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for confidential support.

Staff can contact their Wellbeing Champion to find out more about what support the university offers, and you can also access the Employee Assistance Programme for anything from speaking to a trained mental health counsellor, to getting advice on financial or legal worries.
