Reminder: we only use approved channels to communicate with you

Scammers will try to contact you via your personal email pretending to be a senior member of staff from work. We only use our official channels to contact you

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and professional environment, all communication with you will take place through approved university channels. These include:

  • Outlook for email notifications, meetings and calendar management.
  • Teams for group communications, including instant messaging.
  • Viva for university-wide discussions, communities and knowledge sharing.
  • Moodle for module and programme delivery communications.

For more information about using these tools, see our guidance pages found here.

We will only use your personal contact details in limited circumstances

Sometimes we may need to contact you via your personal contact details. Our IT Service Desk team will only do this at your request or when your university account is unavailable. Some HR processes may require your line manager to use your personal contact details for wellbeing checks and to communicate with you through longer-term absences.

Pause before acting on any unexpected request

If you receive a message claiming to be from the university to your personal accounts, pause and verify the request via another channel:

  • Call the person
  • Message them on Teams
  • Send them a quick email

Thank you for helping to maintain a safe and consistent communication environment for all of us.
