Working on campus and working at home
From 8 March more of our programmes can resume on campus, we expect more staff also to return where there is a clear requirement for them to do so. Faculties and directorates are liaising with the relevant teams to identify this need and will provide updates locally. Please do not return to work on campus unless you are notified by your faculty or directorate to do so.
We will continue to ensure our campuses are Covid-Safe with appropriate ventilation and regular cleaning. We have reviewed the arrangements in our teaching spaces, and these are included in the earlier update published for staff.
In line with HSE guidance for ventilation and air conditioning during the coronavirus pandemic, personnel working for the Facilities teams will enter teaching spaces which have only natural air ventilation to carry out CO2 monitoring to ensure a good level of air flow is being achieved from the windows/doors that have been left opened.

Staff who do not need to be on campus should continue to work at home. We will continue to monitor the government advice and update you if this changes.
Supporting you
If you have any concerns regarding your working patterns, please speak with your manager in the first instance or contact your HR Manager.
Staff with childcare responsibilities
While schools returning from 8 March is a positive step, we appreciate that there may still be occasions where, for various reasons, staff will need to undertake home schooling. Please speak to your line manager to agree flexible working patterns if required and the support you require.
Staff with caring responsibilities
We know that some staff will remain designated carers and you should also speak to your line manager to agree flexible working patterns and the support you require.
Staff who are shielding
If you are in receipt of a letter from either your local GP or the NHS advising you must shield during this lockdown period, we do not expect you to return to on campus working. Please speak with your manager to discuss the arrangements and support you require.
Health and wellbeing
It is important that we all continue to look after ourselves. There is a wealth of information available on the portal, including:
- the wellbeing hub
- the building personal resilience toolkit providing advice on undertaking remote working while supporting your wellbeing.
If you need support in any way please speak to your manager, connect with your colleagues and look out for the activities your local Mental Health and Wellbeing Champions arranges or signposts, use the Employee Assistance Programme and/or try out some of the ‘hints and tips’ available to find out what works for you.
We will continue to keep the information from government under review and update you on a regular basis
