Each year, the University provides a hardship fund for students who encounter sudden financial difficulties.
Please note: it is not a main source of financial support and is not designed to meet the cost of tuition fees.
There are two types of hardship funds:
- Greenwich Hardship Fund (for UK Nationals or EU Nationals with a maintenance loan from Student Finance England (or equivalent).
- International Hardship Fund (for International fee-paying students or EU students not in receipt of a maintenance loan.
Students must apply for both funds via the Digital Student Centre.
Deadlines
Unfortunately, the 2025/26 Greenwich Hardship Fund (GHF) and all supporting bursaries (Commuter, Digital Access and Energy Bill Support) closed at 16:00pm on Friday 23rd January 2026.
Due to the volume of applications received this academic year all budget has been allocated.
The International Hardship Fund is still open.
Students can make an application via the Digital Student Centre, if they are studying at one of the main campuses (Greenwich, Avery Hill and Medway).
