I am a mature student, get me in

TLDRoffon

If you wish to change career, study for personal progression, or want to enter the world of higher education, you are not too late.

40% of mature students are over 30 and have work and family responsibilities. Whatever the reason you took a break from education, don't put off your application any longer.

Late applications

The final date for 2018 entry applications is 30 June, at 6pm.

All undergraduate applications need to be made through UCAS, we can't make you an offer otherwise. It can take 48 hours to process your application, so do this as soon as possible. You will need to include a personal statement in your application. This is an important tool to help summarise your academic commitment, skills and career aims. Admission tutors are looking for students who have researched the subject, have relevant experience and show a strong motivation and commitment to studying the course.

As a general guide, 75% of your personal statement should relate to the course.

Clearing

After the 30 June deadline you can still apply to be entered into UCAS Clearing. If you have your exam results and qualifications already, don't wait until A-Level results day to apply through Clearing. Start the process from 5 July and you can beat the rush.

Finance

Apply for student finance right away, if you require funding. Applications can take six weeks to be processed, but Student Finance England do an initial assessment so you have some money as close to the start of your course as possible - the sooner you apply the better.

There are a number of allowances and grants for students with children, students who are care leavers, and disabled students - you can find out more at student finance.

Accommodation

If you require it, the University of Greenwich guarantees all first year students accommodation on or near to our campuses at Avery Hill, Greenwich and Medway, even if you apply late or through Clearing, which is not always the case for London universities.

There are also halls dedicated to mature students.
