Dr Bettina Karsten
Senior Research Fellow
In May 2025, Dr. Bettina Karsten rejoined the University of Greenwich as a Senior Research Fellow within the Institute for Lifecourse Development (ILD), specifically the Centre for Exercise, Activity and Rehabilitation (CEAR). Since March 2021, she has also held a professorial position at CBS Applied University in Berlin. From 2017 to 2021, she served as Assistant Professor and Programme Leader for the BSc Sport and Exercise Science at LUNEX International University of Health, Exercise and Sports in Luxembourg. Prior to her time in Luxembourg, Dr. Karsten was a Senior Lecturer in Sport Physiology within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Greenwich. Her research spans several key areas, including the power–duration relationship, training interventions and performance outcomes, exercise testing in adolescents and public health contexts, exercise and rehabilitation across the lifespan, as well as the role of nutrition and supplementation in exercise performance.
