Dr. Fernando Naclerio joined the University of Greenwich in July 2011 as Principal Lecturer in Strength Training and Sport Nutrition and Programme Leader of MSc Strength and Conditioning at the Centre for Sports Science & Human Performance. Previously, he held a Titular Professorial position in Exercise Sciences (Sport Training and Nutrition) at the European University of Madrid.

Dr Naclerio holds a PhD in Physiology (2006), a BSc in Physical Education (1984), a BSc Sport Sciences (2002) and professional accreditations and certifications including CSCS from NSCA (1996).

From January 1990 to September 1991 Dr. Naclerio developed a post-graduate degree in research training at the Sports Scientific Institute in Italy (CONI). More recently, he has completed postdoctoral research training at the College of New Jersey (Department of Health and Exercise Science) EEUU, where he also held a position as adjunct professor from August 2010 to January 2011.

Dr Naclerio has been instrumental in securing funding from internal and external funding sources to complete a variety of scholarly activities, improving the education quality of his students. He was awarded a prize as the Best Researcher of the Sport Science School at the European University of Madrid in 2008-2009.

In 2009 Dr. Naclerio was awarded a Research Professorship, as Director of the Nutrition Centre Research Agreement, by the European University of Madrid (€90,000 ~£80,000).

Dr. Naclerio has contributed to the creation and development of many under graduate and post graduate courses, being the original architect of the MSc Degree in Training and Sports Nutrition at the Real Madrid International School where he was programme leader for 6 years (2006 to 2011).

Dr. Naclerio is a habitual presenter at National and International events in different countries including Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, United States, England, Ireland, Colombia and Chile.

Since 1984 Dr. Naclerio has worked as a Conditioning Coach of different sports including Judo, Football, boxing, Karate, Ski, Body building, etc. In addition, he worked as a scientific consultant for several important sports clubs and associations including Valencia Football Club (1999) and Reebok Sports Club Madrid (2000 to 2004). Dr Naclerio also served as Scientific Director of several prestigious sports technology companies, including Globus Spain (1999 to 2004) Sanocare Spain (1999 to 2003) and "Mundo Salud Spain" (2004 to 2007).

Research / Scholarly interests

Dr Fernando Naclerio's research is currently focused on the effects of resistance training and nutrition strategies (diets natural supplements) on performance, injury prevention and muscle structure and morphology in children, adolescent's young and older people.
