Gilberto Buzzi is Deputy Head of the School of Health Sciences at the University of Greenwich. He assumed the role in August 2025 following his tenure as Head of Division for Adult Nursing at London South Bank University, where he successfully led one of the largest nursing divisions in the UK. A registered Adult Nurse and former Intensive Care Specialist Nurse, he brings extensive clinical expertise into higher education, with particular teaching strengths in the care of the deteriorating patient and clinical skills. Gilberto holds a master’s degree in Practice Education and a Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care, and has a strong track record in curriculum development, quality assurance, and apprenticeships. Recognised as an enabler of research culture and committed to building high-performing teams, Gilberto works closely with NHS partners and colleagues to enhance student experience and strengthen the nursing workforce of the future.

Responsibilities within the university

Gilberto Buzzi is the Deputy Head of the School of Health Sciences at the University of Greenwich, where he provides strategic and operational leadership to support the delivery of the School’s vision and priorities. In this role, he works alongside the Head of School and senior leadership team to oversee academic workforce planning, resource management, and the development of programmes that enhance teaching, learning, and student experience.
