Senior Lecturer in Children's Nursing

Heather Shekede is a Senior Lecturer in Children’s Nursing within the School of Health Sciences at the University of Greenwich. Heather has extensive experience of working in and around London. Heather brings wide-ranging clinical expertise as a Children’s nurse- having worked across acute, community public health, health visiting and specialist cleft care services. Heather teaches on the Children’s nursing BSc/MSc programme and other Health Science modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Heather is passionate and committed to making university education inclusive and transformative for all students, with a passion for widening participation and is involved in outreach, recruitment and marketing. As the School Lead for Outreach, Heather works with schools, colleges and community partners to raise aspirations and signposting and providing information to make university education attainable for all.

Heather is a Team London Volunteer, for the London Mayor’s Office, which gives her the opportunity to make links with the local communities and make a difference.

Research / Scholarly interests

Heather's research interest is the impact of cleft diagnosis in families. She also intends to look into effective mentoring for student nurses.
