Ed Hobson

Dr Edward Hobson is Associate Director for Business Development at NRI, having joined the Institute in April. He brings extensive experience in building strategic partnerships and driving innovation, with a strong focus on sustainability, design and systems change. His work centres on applying human‑centred design to complex environmental challenges, particularly within the built environment.

Prior to joining NRI, Dr Hobson was Director of Partnerships at the Design Council, where he led strategic collaborations across UKRI and delivered major programmes with government departments and national bodies. He previously held leadership roles at Innovate UK KTN and CABE, and has also worked as a Policy Director at Green Alliance. Dr Hobson holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield and has authored several publications.
