Dr Kang Tong
Lecturer in Digital Engineering (Infrastructure and Built Environment)
Dr Kang Tong is a Lecturer in Digital Engineering for Infrastructure and the Built Environment at the University of Greenwich. He holds a PhD from The Bartlett, University College London, and brings extensive international experience across academia and industry.
His research focuses on digital transformation in construction and infrastructure, with particular emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) in complex project environments, sustainable and healthcare infrastructure delivery, modern methods of construction (MMC), project and risk management, and digital innovation in the built environment.
His academic work is complemented by over eight years of international industry experience. He has served as an engineering manager, contract manager, and quantity surveyor across a diverse range of projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, healthcare, and educational developments. He has led research and development initiatives in digitalisation and MMC programme implementation and contributed to securing a £150m HDB project in Singapore.
Dr Tong is actively involved in research-led teaching, doctoral supervision, research collaboration, and industry engagement. He welcomes enquiries from prospective PhD candidates.
