Applying for an undergraduate programme

Apply to the University of Greenwich in just a few steps. Choose the path that matches your study mode.

How to complete your UCAS application form

UCAS is the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. It’s a centralised system that enables you to apply to undergraduate programmes at universities and colleges.

To apply through UCAS you need to:

  • Create a UCAS account
  • Select five choices
  • Complete your personal details
  • Write your personal statement
  • Submit your reference
  • Submit your application and pay the UCAS fee

We recommend you apply by the UCAS equal consideration deadline, which for 2026 entry is 14 January 2026. You can still submit application after this deadline up until June. You can find a full list of deadlines on the UCAS dates and deadlines page.

Understanding your offers

Once your application has been submitted, you can follow its progress on UCAS track. This is how you will know what decision a university has made regarding your application.

The possible outcomes include:

  • A conditional offer
  • An unconditional offer
  • A rejected application

A conditional offer is the most common type. This means you will be accepted onto the course if you meet the required grades and any additional conditions, such as English language proficiency.

An unconditional offer is less common. It means your place is confirmed regardless of the grades you achieve. These are typically given to students with outstanding results or to applicants who have already met the entry requirements, often after taking a gap year.

If your application is unsuccessful, it means you have not been offered a place. However, you can request feedback from the university to understand how you could improve your application for the future.

Deciding between offers

Review all your offers carefully and decide which university you would most like to attend.

To help you choose your top option, consider going to open days or applicant days. These give you the chance to speak with academic staff and current students, helping you learn more about studying there.

Once you’ve made your decision, select this university as your firm choice. If you meet the conditions of the offer, your place there will be confirmed.

You will also need to choose an insurance choice. This acts as a backup if you don’t achieve the required grades for your firm choice. It’s important that this is still somewhere you’re happy to go, and typically the grade requirements should be lower than your firm choice.

After making your firm and insurance selections, you will decline your other offers. All your choices are recorded in UCAS Track, so there’s no need to contact universities directly.

On A-level Results Day, if you meet the required grades, your place at either your firm or insurance university will be confirmed in UCAS Track.

If you don’t achieve the grades needed for either choice, don’t worry there are still plenty of opportunities to apply to other universities through Clearing in August.

Progression options

Fast Track

If you are currently in the final year of a Foundation Degree or HNC/HND at Greenwich or a Partner College, Fast Track offers progression onto the final year of a related degree programme without the need to apply through UCAS.

We identify the courses that have a natural progression to further courses taught at Greenwich.

For example, students on the FdA Education and Special Education Needs may progress onto Year 3 of the BA Education Studies or BA Early Years.

Top-up

If you wish to begin a 'Top-up' course at one of our Partner Colleges, your tuition fee may be different to our on-campus fee (see Partner College tuition fees). To progress onto the second or final year (top up) of an honours degree, you must have successfully completed one of the following:

  • Higher National Certificate (HNC)
  • Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE)
  • Higher National Diploma (HND)
  • Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE)
  • Foundation degree
  • First degree without honours (i.e. ordinary degree or pass degree).

Equivalent or lower-level qualifications

If you apply to study at the same or lower level as a qualification you already hold, you may not be entitled to student support and may have to pay your own tuition fees.

About ELQs

If you are unclear about the support you may be entitled to or the tuition fee you will have to pay, please contact us.
