Reporting symptoms of Covid-19

If you experience symptoms, need to take a Covid-19 test or self-isolate, you must let the university know as soon as possible. This will allow us to take swift action to minimise the risk to others, and follow the strict procedures in place.

You can do this using the online form on our Covid-Safe Arrangement pages.

The most important symptoms of coronavirus (Covid-19) are recent onset of any of the following:

  • a new continuous cough or
  • a high temperature or
  • a loss of or change in your normal sense of taste or smell.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our staff and students remains our priority

You can find more about the actions we must all follow to act safely and responsibly on our Be Covid-Safe pages, and in our Covid-Safe Charter which sets out how we expect students and staff to behave during the pandemic.  It also sets out what you can expect from the University and the Students' Unions.

We have also published some Being Covid-Safe FAQs for students, if your question isn't included here then please get in touch.

We must work together to keep our university community safe

We must all follow the guidelines, this includes wearing face coverings in our buildings and vehicles (unless you are exempt), maintaining social distancing, washing hands regularly and using sanitising points when entering buildings and observing the one way systems in corridors.

It is also important that we all follow the government's guidelines on how and where we socialise.  You can find up to date information on the government website: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Any behaviour that puts our wider community at risk will not be tolerated

We have updated our Student Behavioural Procedure and the university takes such behaviour very seriously.  If there is a serious breach of behaviour in relation to Covid-19 (as defined in the document), the university will move to suspend a student.

Our staff are required to demonstrate the same exemplary behaviours.
