Health placements

Our health courses are run in partnership with several NHS Trusts. Paramedic science students will undertake their clinical placement with the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust or South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

Nursing and Midwifery

Our nursing and midwifery courses are run in partnership with several NHS Trusts, who work with us because of our reputation for teaching excellence.

We work in partnership with the following NHS Trusts:

London Boroughs

1. Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Hospital Trust 

With integrated community care services for Adults, Children and Women.

Courses offered: BSc (Hons) and/or MSc Adult Nursing and Children's Nursing, and BSc (Hons) Midwifery.

Students may be placed in Greenwich, Woolwich, Lewisham, Catford, Lee, Lambeth, Southwark, Bromley and Bexley.

2. Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Courses offered: BSc (Hons) and/or MSc Adult Nursing and Children's Nursing, and BSc (Hons) Midwifery.

Students may be placed in Camberwell, Denmark Hill and Bromley.

3. Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust

Including community care services for Mental Health, Learning Disability Adult, Children and Women's services.

Courses offered: BSc (Hons) and/or MSc Mental Health Nursing and Learning Disabilities Nursing.

Students may be placed in Greenwich, Lewisham, Deptford, Bexley and Bromley.

4. South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust

Courses offered: BSc (Hons) and/or MSc Mental Health Nursing.

Students may be placed in Camberwell, Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon.

5. Guys and St Thomas's NHS Foundation Trust 

Incorporating the Evelina Children's Hospital and integrated community services for Adults and Children

Courses offered: BSc (Hons) and/or MSc Adult Nursing and Children's Nursing.

Students may be placed in Central London (Westminster, London Bridge, Lambeth and Southwark).

6. Croydon Health Services NHS Trust

Courses offered: BSc (Hons) and/or MSc Adult Nursing.

Students may be placed in Croydon, Norbury, Purley and Tooting.

7. Barts Health NHS Trust

Courses offered: BSc (Hons) and/or MSc Adult Nursing, Children's Nursing and BSc (Hons) Midwifery.

The site is predominately Newham University Hospital site and the Newham area with a small number of placements in Whitechapel, the City of London and Waltham Forest.


Kent

1. Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust

Courses offered: BSc (Hons) and/or MSc Adult Nursing, Children's Nursing and BSc (Hons) Midwifery.

Students are placed in North and West Kent, including Dartford.

2. Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust

Courses offered: BSc (Hons) and/or MSc Mental Health Nursing and Learning Disabilities Nursing.

Students may be placed in Dartford, Gillingham, Maidstone and Medway.

3. Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust

Courses offered: BSc (Hons) and/or MSc Adult Nursing.

Students may be placed in Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks and Sittingbourne.

4. Medway NHS Foundation Trust

Courses offered: BSc (Hons) and/or MSc Adult Nursing and BSc (Hons) in Midwifery.

Students will be placed in Medway.


Please note: Students who study Adult Nursing that we also offer placements in primary care (with general practice nurses) across all South East London boroughs as well as North Kent.

It is important to remember that you may be required to work shifts that include hours outside the normal working day. You will need to consider your transport options and ensure that your placement is within travelling distance.

You may be able to claim reimbursement of travel costs incurred whilst attending your placement.


Paramedic Science

Paramedic Science Programme (Avery Hill Campus)

Students who study Paramedic Science at the Avery Hill Campus will undertake their clinical ambulance placements at London Ambulance Service NHS Trust. These placements are based in the following areas Greenwich, Deptford, and Bromley.

Paramedic Science Programme (Medway Campus)

Clinical ambulance placements for Paramedic Science students at the Medway Campus will be hosted by South East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. These placements are based in the following areas, Dartford, Gravesend, Medway and Thanet.

Paramedic Science Non-ambulance placements

As part of your paramedic studies, you will also undertake shorter placements in a variety of non-ambulance settings. These include NHS emergency call centres, NHS hospital trusts and Community-based NHS services including General Practice.

You may be able to claim reimbursement of travel costs incurred whilst attending your placement.
